Advanced College Credit
Advanced College Credit provides eligible high school students the opportunity to experience more challenging coursework and begin earning college credit while still enrolled in high school - saving students both time and money as they begin their college career.
Credits students earn through the ACC program can apply directly to certificates and degrees at CCC, or they may be transferable directly to other colleges and universities.
The dual credit program at Clackamas allows students to earn both high school and college credit for some of their high school courses that have been reviewed and approved by CCC faculty. The course materials, content and instructional quality is consistent with courses offered by the college. Not all high school courses are eligible.

Whether you are an existing instructor wanting to articulate a new course, or if you are a new instructor wishing to articulate for the first time, the ACC articulation approval process is virtually identical. Two courses are said to be "articulated" when the high school course has the same student learning outcomes, curriculum content and rigor of assessment as the college course. Course titles may differ between the high school college-level course and the articulated college course, but the course materials, content and instructional quality are consistent with (or "articulated" with) courses offered by the community college.
Visit the online CCC Course Catalog for a complete listing of course descriptions and options available for articulation. College Course Outlines with important course information and Student Learning Outcomes are available for the course(s) you would like to pursue for alignment/articulation at the CCC Online Course Outline System as well. To be approved to articulate an ACC course, high school instructors must meet the minimum instructor qualifications, the same requirements as a CCC instructor.
If you have a course(s) in mind and can meet instructor qualifications, the ACC program may be the perfect fit. However, being an approved ACC instructor comes with some responsibilities. Please see the ACC Roles and Responsibilities.
Process for Establishing New ACC Articulations
In compliance with Oregon State Dual Credit and Sponsored Dual Credit Standards, Clackamas Community College requires high school teachers to submit course and instructor information to be considered as an Advanced College Credit (ACC) instructor.
To initiate a new ACC articulation request email accinfo@clackamas.edu, please include “New Articulation Request” in the subject line and list your name, high school, and subject area you wish to articulate in the body of the email.
All new ACC articulation requests are processed through an online data management system called Dual Enroll. The step-by-step User Guides below provide an overview of the submission process and directions on how to upload materials.
- Dual Enroll - Instructor User Guide
- Dual Enroll - High School Administrator User Guide
- Dual Enroll - Department Chair User Guide
- Dual Enroll - Syllabus Upload Instructor Guide
In preparation to request a new articulation, prospective ACC high school instructors will need to submit the following instructor and course information in Dual Enroll.
Instructor Information:
- A current resume - List any relevant training and life experience
- Copies of official college transcripts (bachelor's and master's) - Copies of originals are fine
- ACC Department Specific Articulation Requirements
Course Information:
- A syllabus including CCC's student learning outcomes for course taught and all items on the ACC Syllabus Checklist
- Student placement criteria - What prerequisites are in place and what grade levels take the course
- Sample key assignments to support meeting the student learning outcomes - number of papers, research required, etc.
- Attach a sample of your midterm and final exams and/or projects/portfolios that will determine students have met course requirements
- ACC Department Specific Articulation Requirements
Once submitted in Dual Enroll, the college will conduct a review of credential and curriculum materials and notify the prospective ACC high school instructor of the college’s decision to articulate. If approved to articulate, the high school instructor and administrator will need to sign the articulation agreement.
Upon approval of a new ACC instructor, the ACC Office will schedule an ACC Instructor Orientation to review ACC Instructor expectations, the ACC website and resources available for instructors and students, the ACC registration process/timeline and the instructor roles and responsibilities. A review of the ACC Instructor account in the college system and how to review course rosters and post grades will also be covered. Required ACC instructor interactions will also be discussed.
Articulation approvals are specific to course and instructor. The instructor and/or the high school administration must notify the ACC Office immediately if the instructor for an ACC course changes to determine the effect on the course articulation. For example, if an approved instructor takes an extended leave (more than a third of the term; four weeks for trimester class and 6 weeks for semester class) due to illness, maternity leave, or other reasons the temporary instructor will need to be approved for the ACC articulation in order to grant college credit.
2017-18 Articulation Application Workshops
There are workshops available throughout the year to help high school instructors get started with the articulation process. For more information, view our ACC Application Workshop Flyer.
