Program: Gerontology

Family comes first for Rachel Widing. That’s one of many reasons why CCC was a great choice for her. It’s close to home. She can get a jump-start on a four-year degree while saving money. It offers a great gerontology program. And, she is getting financial help from CCC scholarships.

Rachel serves as a caretaker for her grandmother, and this work has inspired a career decision: to work with the elderly. She is taking gerontology courses at CCC and plans to transfer to PSU for a bachelor’s degree in Human Services with an emphasis in gerontology. Her career goal is to become a counselor and work with senior citizens and their families.

Being awarded a CCC scholarship has made a huge difference for her. “I was fortunate to receive the DeShane Wilson scholarship two years in a row. This scholarship has changed my future. I would not be able to afford to go to college full time without it. It has helped my whole life!”
