Clackamas Community College is offering a new course for medical assistants who want to refresh their knowledge, or have completed their medical assistant training but do not yet have a national certification. As of Jan. 1, 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require a certification for medical assistants. This new CCC course will help students prepare to take a national MA certification exam.

The Medical Assistant Certification Exam Preparation course is offered at CCC’s Harmony Community Campus on Tuesday evenings, Nov. 12 through Dec. 17. The course is taught by Stacie Shelton, a graduate of CCC’s Medical Assistant program with experience working in the field.

The cost for the course is $130 per student. In addition is a cost of up to $70 for the Saunders Medical Assisting Exam Review Fourth Edition textbook.

Current and former CCC students may register online at https://my.clackamas.edu/ for course number MA-009-01 MA Certification Exam Prep Course. The course offers 16 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). New students may register at www.clackamas.edu/register/
