OREGON CITY - An informative exhibit titled "Peace Corps: 50 Years of Service" opens March 31 in Clackamas Community College's Alexander Gallery and runs through May 8. The exhibit is courtesy of the Committee for a Museum of the Peace Corps Experience, and is featured in connection with the college's annual International Celebration.

"Peace Corps: 50 Years of Service" is an informative exhibition that includes large panels with images and text that describe various cultures and Peace Corps activities. Cultural objects obtained by Peace Corps volunteers will also be on display. Portions of the exhibit also will be on display in the Community Center and in the Pauling Gallery.

The exhibit communicates the service Peace Corps volunteers have provided to people of various cultures in several fields, including education, medicine and housing. The exhibits illustrate the Peace Corps volunteers' interaction with people to help achieve their basic needs, and promotes an understanding of the people served.

A gallery reception for "Peace Corps:  50 Years of Service" is schedule for Tuesday, April 29, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Alexander Gallery. The reception takes place during CCC's International Week Celebration and includes a performance by the Anansi Beat Group and a drum-making demonstration.

The Alexander Gallery is located in the Niemeyer Center at CCC's Oregon City campus. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of campus holidays. The exhibition is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.
