CCC Expands Energy and Resource Management Program

Article by: Janet Paulson

OREGON CITY - Clackamas Community College is expanding its Energy and Utility Resource Management program to help meet the need for skilled utility workers. CCC's Wilsonville campus will offer two new pathway certificates beginning fall 2014 for Utility Field Technician and Occupational Health and Safety.

CCC's Wilsonville campus currently offers several on-site energy and resource management programs that are tailored to meet workforce needs. These include: Energy and Resource Management, Utility Trades Preparation: Lineworker and Utility Workforce Readiness.

CCC's energy and resource management programs prepare students for a variety of utility jobs and apprenticeship opportunities with different agencies and businesses nation-wide.

"A wave of utility workers across the nation is nearing retirement, and additional skilled workers will be needed to fill job openings," says Tracy.

The new CCC pathway certificates in Utility Field Technician and Occupational Health and Safety were developed in response to the needs of local businesses. "Employers are looking for skilled utility workers to fill job openings. CCC is reacting to this workforce need by offering affordable education and training and adding new pathway certificates," Tracy said.
