Thousands Expected at Yellow Ribbon Event

WHAT:
• More than 3,000 veterans and family members are expected at the Yellow Ribbon Career and Benefits Fair, an Oregon National Guard reintegration event for members of the 41st Brigade who recently returned from overseas deployment.
WHEN:
• Saturday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE:
• Clackamas Community College
• 19600 Molalla Avenue, Oregon City
WHY:
• More than 50 percent of Oregon National Guard returning veterans don’t have jobs. The Yellow Ribbon Career and Benefits Fair brings together more than 100 military-friendly employers who have jobs now or will have jobs within the next six months. In addition, more than 60 service providers, and more than 30 educational institutions will attend. VIP SPEAKERS:
• 8:30 a.m.: Sen. Ron Wyden, Congressman David Wu, Brigadier General Mike Caldwell, State Sen. Martha Schrader, Clackamas Community College President Joanne Truesdell and Clackamas County Commissioner Jim Bernard will address employers. 12:30 p.m., Sen. Ron Wyden will address veterans and family members.

• The Yellow Ribbon Career and Benefits Fair is jointly sponsored by the Oregon National Guard, Sen. Ron Wyden, WorkSource Clackamas, the Oregon Employment Department, Hire Oregon Vets, Clackamas Community College and Clackamas County.
