CCC: News Releases
CCC has been named a “Military Friendly School for 2010” by GI Jobs magazine. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools nationally serving military veterans and their families.
Schools included on the list range from state universities and private colleges to community colleges and trade schools. The common bond is their shared priority of recruiting students with military experience.
Research to name the schools included polling more than 7,000 institutions nationwide. Schools on the list are those that offer targeted benefits for veterans including on-campus veterans’ programs, credit for service, and services for military spouses and families. The criteria also included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students.
CCC has increased its efforts to serve veterans and their families over the past few years. Earlier this year, CCC received a $100,000 grant to serve veterans, awarded through the American Council on Education (ACE) and the Wal-Mart Foundation. This summer, the college received a $381,000 congressional award to increase efforts to serve veterans, in particular around reintegration efforts as military return from overseas deployment.
GI Jobs magazine will launch a Web site in September at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com.This site will feature interactive tools to assist veterans search for schools that best meet their educational needs.
