Clackamas Community College’s workforce services is offering a two-week training that will prepare people for work in the materials handling field. An orientation session for the training will take place on Monday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the college’s Gregory Forum.
Workforce Development Services at CCC, in connection with Worksource Clackamas, received federal stimulus funds to prepare job seekers for work in high-demand areas, including materials handling. Participants in the upcoming training will earn a Material Handlers Certificate from CCC.
Job opportunities in material handling include freight stock and material mover, material moving and vehicle operation, shipping/receiving and traffic clerks. The orientation will cover qualifications for the warehouse and logistics industry, scholarships for the training and information about the industry trends.
The training is cosponsored by the Workforce Investment Council of Clackamas County (WICCO).
