Portland theater favorites bring their talents to the Clackamas Repertory Theatre production of the farce “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” opening August 6. The play continues Thursdays through Sundays in the Osterman Theatre at Clackamas Community College through August 23.
“Forum” is directed by Ernie Casciato, and features Tobias Andersen, artistic director of the Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre. The production includes a 16-piece orchestra conducted by Gary Nelson. The play by Stephen Sondheim, Larry Gelbart and Burt Shevelove, opened on Broadway in 1962 and won several Tony awards, including best musical and best book.
Evening performances, Thursdays through Saturdays, begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for youth, $19 for seniors and $24 for adults. Prices are reduced for the Thursday, Aug. 6, preview performances.
