CCC: News Releases
Award-winning Portland director Slayden Scott Yarbrough directs the Clackamas Repertory Theatre’s production “Taking Steps.” The play opens Thursday, July 9, with performances Thursday through Sunday through July 26.
Yarbrough is the producing artistic director for Portland’s Third Rail Repertory Theatre, which just completed its fourth season. In the past four years, he has won four Drammy Awards for best direction, and the company has won three Drammy Awards for best production. (The Drammy Awards are Portland’s Tony Awards). “Taking Steps” is the first show Yarbrough has directed in the area that is not for his company.
CRT perennial favorites Jayson Shanafelt and Amanda Jensen join the cast in this British farce by Alan Ayckboum. Recent Willamette University graduates Bob Alsman and Annie Rimmer perform as well. Performances take place evenings at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, and on Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for youth, $17 for seniors, and $22 for adults. Tickets will be offered at a discounted price on preview night, July 9.
The July 10 performance features an opening night champagne and dessert celebration. The July 17 and July 24 performances will be followed by a post-show talk with the director and performers.
