Multimedia ‘Ostinato’ Opens in Alexander Gallery

Thu, 08 Apr 2010 19:33:06 GMT

The multimedia exhibition “Ostinato: Loops into Chains” opens this week in the Alexander Gallery at Clackamas Community College. The show continues through May 7. The installation by CCC art instructor and multimedia artist Thomas Wasson includes digital imagery, interactive video, live performance, sound, sculptural elements, 2D work and several collaborative pieces with CCC students and staff. Wasson was recently hired at CCC to lead the new digital media area of the CCC Art Department. His background in electronic arts, music, digital imaging, experimental filmmaking and traditional media make him a true multimedia artist. Wasson’s work is a combination of historically traditional mediums with the nontraditional and experimental. He is also a student of the sciences and utilizes his insatiable curiosity and keen sense of observation to understand the forces which control the universe, mixing them into his work like a modern alchemist. It is this synthesis of concept and form that drives the essence of his work. Similarly his work is about change and evolution as the various mediums interact and morph, leading to the exhibition’s title “Loops into Chains”. The Alexander Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and during special events in the Niemeyer Center. For more information, call Kelly White at 503-594-3034.
