CCC: News ReleasesSustainability Lecture Series at CCC Spring TermThu, 08 Apr 2010 19:32:02 GMT Clackamas Community College announces the speakers and events for this year’s Sustainability Lecture Series. This year’s line up of outstanding speakers and films includes state and local leaders in sustainability. The Sustainability Lecture Series at CCC is in its fifth year at the college. The series has presented dozens of speakers to the college and the community since it began, along with films and events around sustainability. Here are some of the speakers in this year’s series. More speakers will be announced in the next few weeks. All events are free and open to the public. • Friday, April 16, noon to 1 p.m., McLoughlin Auditorium. John Kaufmann, Oregon Department of Energy. Kaufmann will speak on peak oil and energy. He is building energy project manager with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. • Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, noon to 2 p.m. McLoughlin Auditorium, Documentary “Deep Green.” Filmmaker Matt Briggs will show his new film “Deep Green,” followed by a question and answer session. Almost three years in the making, “Deep Green” travels to nine countries in an unprecedented quest for both cutting edge ideas and simple personal actions available now to stop man-made global warming. • Wednesday, April 28, noon to 1 p.m., McLoughlin Auditorium, Alison Dennis, Burgerville. Burgerville is known for its fresh, local menu offerings and sustainable business practices. Dennis will share how Burgerville is setting standards not only in the Pacific Northwest but also in the restaurant industry. • Friday, April 30, noon to 1 p.m., Fireside Room, CCC Community Center, Matt Lounsberry, Stumptown Coffee. Lounsberry will speak about sustainability and coffee production. • Wednesday, May 26, noon to 1 p.m., McLoughlin Auditorium, Vicki Lind, Career Counselor.
