CCC Graduation Ceremonies June 11 and 12

Two graduation ceremonies next month will mark the accomplishments of Clackamas Community College students. The ceremony for students completing their GED or Adult High School Diploma will take place on Thursday, June 11. The graduation ceremony for students earning certificates and degrees will be held Friday, June 12.
Both ceremonies take place at 7 p.m. in the college’s Randall Hall gymnasium.

Each graduation ceremony features outstanding graduates who have been nominated by the CCC faculty for their academic efforts, activities or for overcoming personal challenges to reach their educational goals. This year’s student profiles include for Thursday:

• William Adams: 82 years old, earning his high school diploma.
• Desiree Clark: Teen parent, earning Adult High School diploma, while taking care of her disabled mother and 2-year-old daughter.
• Jacqueline (Gwyn) Case: A Gateway to College student graduating with a high school diploma and a transfer degree.
• Martha Lopez: 52-year-old immigrant earning her GED, who plans to become a nurse.

During the Friday ceremony, the following students will be recognized:
• Brad King: Played for the CCC champion basketball team while working full time as a project manager and raising a family.
• Lindsey Watson: A nursing student, who is the first in her family to graduate from college.
• Taylor Reavely: An inspiring student who excels academically and is president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
• Nathan Page: A Marine who did two tours of duty in Iraq. He is earning his transfer degree and plans to attend law school.
