    Programs and Courses

The English as a Second Language department provides students the opportunity to develop their English skills in a supportive classroom environment. We offer courses in speaking and listening, reading and writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary development and basic computer skills at different levels from beginning to advanced.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

ESL courses are designed to support resident ESL students with no or some English through essential coursework focused on improving their English skills for personal, professional and educational goals. Course fees vary between $20 and $40 per class. ESL courses do not offer college-level credit. See below for advanced English language classes.

English as a Non-Native Language: Students may choose to take courses at an advanced level for college credit. Courses with the prefix of "ENL" fall under CCC's standard tuition rates for in-state and out-of-state students. ENL courses are considered college-level elective courses and qualify for financial aid.

    Program for Intensive English (PIE)

The Program for Intensive English serves international students, tourists and other international visitors seeking to improve their English skills. International students interested in the PIE program must complete the International Student Application Packet.

If you have questions or need help completing the International Student Application, email Kathryn Long.

    U.S. Citizenship Test Preparation

U.S. Citizenship Test Preparation assists students in studying for the U.S. citizenship exam. Topics covered include: U.S. history, government, citizens' rights and responsibilities. Students will have the opportunity to study independently or in small groups.
