CCC: News Releases
The CCC Horticulture Department offers several workshops and short courses this fall, from garden composting to pond building to holiday decorating. Here’s a highlight of fall term horticulture events and workshop offerings at CCC:
Saturday, October 3, Garden Composting. This workshop, from 9 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., covers a variety of techniques for composting yard debris. Participants meet at the CCC composting demonstration site south of Clairmont. Preregistration is required. Fee is $5.
Saturday, October 10, Herb School. Celebrate Herb Day at CCC by attending the second annual Herb School. The event features multiple speakers, vendors and horticulture instructor Elizabeth Howley. Event is from 9 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. in the CCC Gregory Forum. Cost is $15.
Monday, October 12, Building Ponds and Waterfalls. Learn about the materials and techniques used to create natural-looking residential water features. Oct. 12, from 6:30 – 8:20 p.m. in Clairmont 117. Cost is $20.
Saturday, October 17, Concrete Leaf Casting. Create your own unique casting using a live textured leaf. This workshop covers painting, staining and water-proofing information. Workshop is from 10 to 11:50 a.m. in Clairmont 117. Fee is $25.
Wednesday, November 18, Pesticide Applicator in Spanish. Workshop is a review of the safe use of pesticides and application equipment. Re-certification credits available. From 9 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. in Clairmont 118. Fee is $35.
Friday, November 20, Pesticide Core Training. This training fulfills the core requirements and four other hours of the Private Applicators license re-certification requirements for the Oregon Department of Agriculture. Fee is $25.
Friday, December 4, Rhododendron Growers. A gathering of growers and researchers from around the Northwest for a day-long program to discuss new research, new varieties and culture of this genus. $20 fee includes lunch. Contact Bruce Nelson at 503-657-6858, ext. 2786 for information.
Saturday, December 5, Herb Gifts/Holiday Decorating. Join two experienced instructors for a fun morning making herb gifts and holiday arrangements to take home. From 8 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. in Clairmont 117. Cost is $45.
