  • Board Resolution Authorizes Bond Sale

    The Board of Education at its April meeting passed a resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds to finance capital construction at Clackamas Community College. Voters in the district in November approved a $90 million bond measure to update and modernize college facilities.

    Project 1:

    Industrial/technical learning center

    Labs and classrooms to benefit electronics, automotive, manufacturing, welding, skilled trades and apprenticeships programs.

    Project 2:

    DeJardin Hall upgrade

    New science classrooms and the renovation and modernization of other college classrooms and facilities.

    Project 3:

    Workforce development facility

    New construction to replace the 61-year-old building on the Harmony Community Campus in Milwaukie.

    Project 4:

    Student services center

    Replacing the student services center on the Oregon City campus with an expanded facility to meet student needs.

    What are the goals of the bond projects?

    • Increase local access to affordable educational programs that would allow students to transfer to four-year universities or obtain training for family-wage jobs.
    • Train students in high-demand careers, such as health sciences, engineering and manufacturing.
    • Update and modernize equipment so students are adequately trained to meet current industry standards.

    Get Involved

    The first meeting of the Citizen Oversight Committee was Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Community Center, room CC-127 on CCC's Oregon City campus (agenda). The committee will receive regular reports on all bond-related projects; ensure the bond projects reflect the community's input and advise on public engagement strategies. Meetings are always open to the public.

    • Jan. - Feb. 2015: Appoint Bond Citizen Accountability and Oversight Committee
    • April - May 2015: Prepare documentation for Preliminary Official Statement for bond sale

Bond Citizen Oversight Committee to Meet

The initial meeting of the Bond Projects Citizen Oversight Committee will take place on Wednesday, April 22, at Clackamas Community College. The committee will provide oversight to the implementation of ballot measure 3-447, approved by voters in November.  Full Story
