Free Dental Screenings Offered at Harmony Community Campus

Article by: Janet Paulson

MILWAUKIE - Students in the Dental Assistant program at Clackamas Community College will offer free community dental screenings on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Harmony Community Campus. CCC will partner with Oregon Health & Science University dental school and Northwest Family Services to provide the service.

The free dental screenings are available to adults who live in Clackamas County and do not have dental insurance. People who would like to participate are encouraged to make an appointment with Northwest Family Services by calling Zuri Lopez at 503-278-3574 or zlopez@nwfs.org.

College dental assisting students will assist OHSU dental students giving the exams and provide oral hygiene instructions.

CCC's Dental Assistant program prepares 24 students each year for entry-level positions as chair-side dental assistants. Graduates from the program have gone on to work in private dental practices, large clinics or continued with their education to become dental hygienists and dentists.
