CCC wrestling breaks national meet record

Jan 16, 2018, 12:24 PM by CCC Staff

OREGON CITY - The Clackamas Community College wrestling team brought home a record-breaking fifth-straight win at the National Duals Championship in Fort Wayne, Ind. The unprecedented win breaks national rival Iowa Central's four-consecutive wins streak.

The Cougars, who are now 12-0 for the year, beat Northeast Oklahoma for the second year in a row to claim the title. With this win, CCC Wrestling Coach Josh Rhoden is now the winningest coach in program history with 129 dual meet victories.

Our guys wrestled so well this weekend and they deserved to win that tournament," Rhoden said. "I enjoy seeing our guys having so much fun helping each other toward a common goal. These young men worked hard and sacrificed both on and off the mat. They earned this national championship."

The latest victory represents the sixth National Duals Championship CCC has won since 2011. To follow CCC wrestling or to learn more about CCC's athletics programs, visit
