• Fire Science (Wildland) Program

The CCC Fire Science (Wildland) program provides training that can lead to seasonal or permanent employment with state, federal, and private contract firefighting or within the timber industry. There are many career tracks in the field of wildland firefighting and forestry. It's exciting work that requires fundamental survival, safety and firefighting skills.

Clackamas Community College is certified as an authorized wildland firefighting training site by the Pacific Northwest Wildfire Coordinating Group and the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG). Many of the courses carry NWCG and DPSST certification as well as college credit.

Our instructors are highly qualified. Our program instructors are certified by the NWCG and the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), and offer 15-40 years of wildland firefighting experience.

CCC offers career pathways and a one-year certificate of completion in Wildland Fire. We also offer a career pathway in Forestry and Wilderness Survival.

The Career Pathways' Fire Science roadmap gives some great information on Oregon career opportunities and labor market information.

  • Note: Annual “Wildland Refresher" classes can be offered for your organization if student numbers permit. Please contact Joe Crawford by email at jcrawford@clackamas.edu or call 503-594-3620 to find out more.
