Fire Science (Wildland) Program The CCC Wildland Firefighting and Forest Management program provides education and training that can lead to seasonal or permanent employment with state, federal, and private contract firefighting or within the timber industry. There are many career tracks in the field of wildland firefighting and forestry. It's exciting work that requires fundamental survival, safety and firefighting skills. We offer 3 certificates in Wildland Firefighting and Forest Management. Clackamas Community College is certified as an authorized wildland firefighting training site by the Pacific Northwest Wildfire Coordinating Group and the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG). Many of the courses carry NWCG certification as well as college credit. In addition, we offer many “Just in Time” offerings to professionals in the field needing ongoing training and recertification. Clackamas is the leader in the state offering Language Skills Assessments, as well as Refresher Courses and Work Capacity (Pack) Tests. Our instructors are NWCG certified, and offer 15-40 years of wildland firefighting experience. The Career Pathways' Fire Science roadmap gives some great information on Oregon career opportunities and labor market information.
