Getting ready to graduate?
Complete the simple steps below to get to your finish line.
Steps for Graduation
It is strongly recommended that students submit a Petition for Graduation two terms from their anticipated term of completion. (For example, spring term graduates should apply during fall term). CCC does accept Petitions for Graduation up until the sixth week of each term to graduate during the current term.
Students can petition for graduation online in Self-Service. Use the Graduation Overview module to submit the form, or download the Petition for Graduation form and turn it in to Graduation Services. After you submit your Petition for Graduation, Graduation Services will be in touch with you via your @student.clackamas.edu email address with more information.
Contact gradservices@clackamas.edu if your program of study needs to be updated or you have any questions about petitioning to graduate.
If you want to waive or substitute a course for a program requirement, please work with the Department Chair of that program to submit a Request to Waive or Substitute Course form.

Ceremony Details
Following social distancing guidelines, graduates’ cars will enter through the Beavercreek entrance at the designated time and take a predetermined course that allows you to pick up your cap, gown, tassel, and any applicable honor cords, veterans' cords, and Phi Theta Kappa stoles FREE of charge, then proceed to the Blue Lot.
At the Blue Lot, you will exit your vehicle and follow directions to line up. Students who drive by themselves will be able to park their cars. You will have your name called, cross the stage, receive your diploma cover, and have a photo taken by a professional photographer. Family members will be able to watch from inside their cars directly in front of the stage. Only one car allowed per graduate.
If you don’t have a vehicle, a CCC vehicle can take graduates along the processional route. To request this service, please indicate that you will be arriving to campus without a car in the RSVP form.
Personal protective equipment and social distancing guidelines
For the safety of all participants, all graduates will be required to wear masks to participate. The college will have masks available to any student who does not own a mask. Anyone participating will be required to remain 6 feet away from others at all times.
Other important notes
All areas of campus not being utilized for the ceremony will remain CLOSED with the exception of the childcare facility in the Family Resource Center.
Do you want to thank a staff or faculty member who has helped you succeed at CCC? Go to Step 3 on this page and send them a thank you note!
We cannot wait to cheer on every one of you at this celebration. Please contact gradceremony@clackamas.edu if you have any questions. Go, Cougars!
What is the difference between Graduation and Commencement?
Graduation is when a student is awarded a certificate or degree once they have satisfied all certificate or degree requirements as verified by the Graduation Services Office. After the verification process, the certificate or diploma is printed, mailed and posted to the student's CCC record. The mailing and posting process for certificates and diplomas usually takes 6 to 8 weeks after term grades are recorded.
Commencement is a ceremony that allows students, family and friends to celebrate in the student's academic accomplishments. Participation in the ceremony does not mean the student has graduated and students do not receive their certificates or diplomas at the ceremony.
