Ready for a fresh start? Discover what’s next with the Life and Career Options Program

If you’re working through a major life transition — such as job loss, divorce, recovery, or a shift in your career — the Life and Career Options Program (LCOP) at Clackamas Community College offers a steady place to regroup and plan your next steps. Designed specifically for adults returning to college or the workforce, LCOP helps you identify your strengths, learn about short-term career training options, and build a clear plan for moving forward.

The supportive environment, hands-on activities and guided reflection help you rebuild confidence, explore new opportunities, and connect with the resources designed to help you succeed.

What you'll learn

Throughout the course, you'll explore your interests, skills, values and personality preferences to better understand the types of careers and training programs that may fit your goals. You’ll learn strategies for navigating life transitions, improving time management and strengthening your confidence. The program also covers essential job-search skills, including creating resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and learning how to present yourself professionally.

Along the way, you’ll be introduced to CCC’s short-term training opportunities in areas like health care, manufacturing and horticulture. These sessions help you see the options available and decide whether a short-term certificate or longer-term program might be right for you.

Program details

LCOP is tuition-free, with a small $80 course fee. Support may be available to help with fees, transportation or child care for those who qualify.

Classes take place in winter term (English) and spring term (Spanish). The course is offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person class meetings with online assignments and activities.
