Holidays, heritage months and observances
This list of holidays, heritage months and observances represent a wide array of cultures, beliefs and religions both nationally and internationally. As a college that strives to provide a responsive education, guided by our values of learning, community and belonging, this list intends to uplift groups that face historic and present-day systemic barriers, as well as spark curiosity about backgrounds that differ from our own.
This resource can be used as a tool for planning events that enrich our campus community and for educational purposes that promote learning about the importance of the diversity of our college community.
This list has been curated and is not exhaustive. We ask that you email the DEI Committee at diversity@clackamas.edu if there are widely recognized holidays or observances that you would like to be included on this list. Your submission will be reviewed by the communications and webpage subcommittee and the Cougar LEAP Office for alignment with our mission and ORS 350.375, and is subject to approval. If your submission is not approved, we will offer an opportunity to discuss options for where your submission might be showcased.
If there are scheduled campus events for the observances or heritage months listed above, they will be posted on the college calendar.
