Equity and belonging

Welcome to the equity and belonging page at Clackamas Community College.

We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrates the unique experiences and perspectives of our students, employees and community members. Through cultural celebrations, awareness campaigns, workshops and engaging dialogues, we strive to create a college where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.

This page is dedicated to showcasing CCC’s resources and events related to equity and belonging. We invite you to explore and engage with us as we work to build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive college. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and create positive change that benefits us all. Visit this page often to find updates on our work, including how to connect and participate.

Thank you for being here.

Cougar Leadership, Education and Advocacy for Progress (LEAP) Office

The LEAP Office supports Clackamas Community College students, employees and the greater Clackamas community in fostering a deeper, more interconnected community where everyone can thrive.

We focus on four key pathways to enhance multicultural connection, community cohesion and access to education and services:

  • Raising awareness — through education, training and creating learning opportunities on topics including, but not limited to, targeted universalism, universal design, systemic and structural oppression, cultural humility, trauma-informed practices, conscious reflection and the impacts of bias and racism.
  • Building connections — between people, policies, practices, information, results and outcomes.
  • Taking courageous action — by creating conditions for innovative leadership that embraces discomfort and facilitates change by trying and doing.
  • Reporting and resource development  by collaborating with internal partners and external organizations to gather and provide information to guide programs, finance, service delivery and policy decisions. Then providing oral and/or written documentation of the processes and results.
