Multicultural Center

The Multicultural Center (MCC) provides opportunities for students to learn about, honor, and embrace their histories, lives, and whole self. We achieve this by providing a physical space in the Wacheno Welcome Center on the Oregon City campus, supporting identity-based clubs, offering leadership opportunities in the MCC, and hosting social and educational events.

We hope that during your time at Clackamas Community College you are able to find community and achieve your educational goals. We are eager to learn how we can best support you within the Multicultural Center, whether that’s learning more about yourself, finding common ground through shared identities, or developing your leadership skills. We look forward to seeing you at either in the Center or at one of our events!

MCC Book Group: October

Join the Multicultural Center for our October Book Group, Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery. From Goodreads, "set in Colonial New England, Slewfoot is a tale of magic and mystery, of triumph and terror as only dark fantasist Brom can tell it." We welcome anyone and everyone to the group; whether you only come in October, come every month, have finished the book, or not even started. Though, we can't promise our conversation will be spoiler free!
We'll be discussion Slewfoot on Thursday, October 22 from 4 – 5:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Center, located in the Wacheno Welcome Center, WC 161. There will be light snacks and refreshments available. You can find this book at your local library or bookstore. Ten free copies are available in the MCC on a first-come, first-served basis. We got our copies from White Rabbit in Oregon City.

Brownies and Ballots

Wednesday, Oct. 28, noon – 1 p.m. and 3 – 4 p.m. | The Living Room, Dye Learning Center

Join the Multicultural Center, Library, and Student Life & Leadership for a casual, drop-in program where you can fill out your ballot, learn how to research candidates and ballot measures, and build community with your peers. Light drinks and snacks will be provided. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, Oct. 28, either noon – 1 p.m. or 3 – 4 p.m. in The Living Room section of the Dye Learning Center, on the Oregon City campus. Please note that this is a nonpartisan event. There will be no debates or voting persuasions taking place.

Dia de los Muertos

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a predominantly Mexican holiday that welcomes loved ones who have died back to the land of the living. The Multicultural Center wants to honor this holiday tradition with you! From Wednesday, Oct. 21 – Tuesday, Nov. 3 we’ll have altar displays on all three campuses. Then, on Thursday, Oct. 29, we will celebrate Día de los Muertos with events at the Harmony and Oregon City campuses. We’ll paint sugar skulls on rocks, handmake marigold flowers, and socialize with each other over light refreshments. We hope to see you participate in one, if not both events! Flower bouquets with the Horticulture Department

The Multicultural Center is partnering with the Horticulture Department to bring you self-made flower bouquets! Join us on Thursday, November 5 between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make your own flower bouquet from flowers grown by CCC staff and students! This event will take place in the Wacheno Welcome Center Mall, on the Oregon City campus, and free to all students, staff, and faculty.

This anthology features 21 brand new Indigenous horror and dark fiction stories. You don’t need to have read Part I to enjoy Part 2. The Spirit Room is a space for quiet prayer, meditation, reflection, or contemplation. It is non-sectarian and can be used by anyone in our community. Inside you will find prayer rugs, meditation cushions, and yoga mats. Please be respectful of the original intentions of this room while using it, and enjoy!
