This $19.6 million project replaces the current Student Services/Community Commons building on the Oregon City campus. The college received $8 million in matching funds from the state for construction.
The current Bill Brod Community Center is outdated and cramped, which leaves little space for providing access to multiple services, programs and opportunities for students to connect to staff and each other. Students must travel between four different buildings across campus to access student and academic services. These multiple transition points can prevent students from successfully enrolling at the college or completing their degrees.
The new Student Services and Community Commons will allow CCC to co-locate critical support services such as academic and career coaching, registration and financial aid, veterans services and counseling with student life and leadership and space for student-focused organizations (e.g., Phi Theta Kappa, French, multicultural).
These key support services, when combined with access to study spaces (individual and group), a cafeteria and the bookstore, will provide students with a central place on
campus to gather, study, eat and socialize – ensuring students stay on track to complete their academic and career pathway, an institutional priority for CCC.
Construction start: April 2020
Occupancy: August 2021
