SNAP Training and Employment Program (STEP)
Are you currently receiving SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits? If so, you might be eligible for additional support to help you be successful at CCC!
The SNAP Training and Employment Program (STEP) provides coaching and other support to CCC students who:
- Receive SNAP
- Do not receive TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
- Are currently enrolled at CCC, and
- Are pursuing a career goal that leads to stable employment (and can be completed with a Bachelor's degree or less)
Does this sound like you? Fill out our Information Request Form and someone from our STEP Team will contact you regarding eligibility and to see if we are able to provide support to you.
If you are enrolled in STEP, you will be assigned a STEP Coach who can assist you with a variety of things, including:
- Academic coaching (how to be successful in your classes!)
- Help identifying classes and training programs to support your career goal
- Referrals to other internal and external support resources
- Assistance with gaining financial literacy skills
- Career coaching and planning
- Help finding a job or growing your skills for a better job
- Resume, cover letter, job search and interviewing skills
Additionally, STEP may be able to assist with:
- Purchasing textbooks for school
- Gas cards or bus pass to help you get to and from school
- GED and/or ESOL course fees and testing fees
Depending on your needs and available funding, there might also be assistance with:
- Tools or gear required for your program (like welding goggles, etc.)
- Some tuition/fees to help you get started or finish your program
- Some living expenses to help relieve financial stress
Unsure of your career goal? CCC's Career Center can help.
